Focus and Scope
Ecological and Environmental Anthropology is an online, open-access, peer-reviewed journal published at the University of Georgia. EEA provides a forum for the exploration of the complex, dynamic, and multifaceted relationships between humans and their social and physical environments. We hope to provide fertile ground for the integration of the various subfields of anthropology and foster interdisciplinary dialog among academics within anthropology, scholars in other social and natural science fields, and non-academic professionals in all fields engaged in the study of human-environment relationships.
Through the online format of this journal, we strive to be on the cutting edge of technological innovations that aid in the dissemination of research in ecological and environmental anthropology. In addition to traditional written articles, we encourage submissions that take full advantage of the medium and push the boundaries of conventional scholarly communication, from audio/visual presentations to online symposia. Peer-reviewed submissions will present original research, critical reviews of published works, and new eco-cultural models and paradigms.

Peer Review Process
Ecological and Environmental Anthropology publishes articles and commentary by scholars in diverse fields such as anthropology, ecology, and geography, as well as practitioners who specialize in conservation, health, and other socio-natural issues, and all of our articles are peer-reviewed before publication. Some of our reviewers have been recommended by the authors, some serve on our editorial board, and some are invited to review and possibly provide published commentary on specific articles. While we at EEA will narrow down our initial choices and ultimately will make the final decisions, we rely on our reviewers for suggestions on whether manuscripts should be accepted, accepted with revisions, or rejected. We ask our reviewers to critically examine the main arguments of the article under consideration for publication and to write a fair assessment of the conceptual and practical issues raised by the article, the significance and quality of research, the clarity of the writing, the citation of relevant research, and the accuracy and applications of the conclusions of the authors.
Publication Frequency
Ecological and Environmental Anthropology is published biannually although additional special issues may be published under certain conditions.
Open Access Policy
Ecological and Environmental Anthropology is a free, open-access scholarly journal, which promotes progress and efficiency in information sharing. Articles, pictures, audio, and video published in EEA may be downloaded, printed, copied, and distributed for the advancement of scholarship. Authors of such materials should be appropriately cited and acknowledged for their contribution.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
